According to the Australian Government Investigation Standards (AGIS) the Certificate IV in Government Investigations qualification is the recommended minimum standard for anyone responsible for conducting a regulatory investigation. This qualification also prepares any investigator to conduct ethical investigations to a criminal standard and as such is an applicable skill across any investigative role.

To be awarded the qualification students must demonstrate competency against all assessment requirements in all 15 units of competency. This is achieved through a series of knowledge and skill assessments which are submitted through ICETS online training portal.
